Urban Mobility Starts with Human‑Centred Thinking

We create integrated urban mobility systems and sustainable infrastructure design
for cities that work better — for workers, operators, and the environment.

Learn more about our history

Who We Are

CITYLAB DESIGN LIMITED is a London-based micro-agency dedicated to designing for the realities of modern urban life. Founded in March 2025, we bring together industrial designers, urbanists, and engineers to craft functional, sustainable, and scalable solutions for everyday city challenges.

Our work focuses on human-centred industrial design with an emphasis on utility, ergonomics, and adaptability. We prioritise worker‑centric tools that improve safety, efficiency, and comfort for service providers, municipal staff, and delivery professionals operating within dense, fast-paced environments.

From modular infrastructure design to compact micromobility solutions, we collaborate with public and private clients to reshape how cities move, connect, and function. Our approach is iterative, inclusive, and always rooted in real-world use.

Who We Work With
Municipal Agencies & Public Operators

We partner with city departments and transit authorities to design urban mobility systems, public service equipment, and accessible infrastructure design elements that improve urban flow and daily operations.

Logistics & Delivery Service Providers

We work with last-mile carriers and urban couriers to develop custom micromobility solutions and worker‑centric tools that enable faster, cleaner, and more sustainable logistics across tight, urban terrain.

Urban Startups & Innovation Labs

We support emerging ventures and R&D hubs developing tools and tech for cities. Our city design expertise helps them go from concept to prototype with a strong foundation in industrial design and systems thinking.

Why Choose Us

We understand cities not as static systems, but as evolving environments driven by people, technology, and movement. Our team brings deep, focused experience in urban mobility, backed by a rigorous approach to practical industrial design.

We believe that good design must serve both form and function — especially when applied to essential public tools and systems. Our solutions are built to last, to scale, and to centre the needs of real urban workers — from waste crews to riders, from maintainers to technicians.

By keeping our team small and agile, we remain adaptable and grounded. We listen first, observe always, and design with empathy — creating worker‑centric tools that improve workflows and wellbeing in everyday urban life.

Key Advantages
Human‑Centred Industrial Design

We specialise in industrial design that places workers first — ensuring tools and equipment are ergonomic, safe, and built for long-term use.

Sustainable Logistics Thinking

Our work is guided by the principles of sustainable logistics, minimising carbon footprints through smart materials, circular systems, and compact mobility formats.

Scalable Infrastructure Design

We deliver modular and future-ready infrastructure design solutions that evolve with cities, ensuring cost-effectiveness and long-term adaptability.

Integrated Urban Mobility

From shared vehicles to storage hubs, we craft urban mobility ecosystems that are efficient, intuitive, and built to reduce street-level friction.

Design for Micromobility

We design custom micromobility solutions that meet the daily needs of delivery workers, service staff, and maintenance crews in dense environments.

Deep City Design Expertise

We bring a systems-based, multidisciplinary approach to city design, balancing function, regulation, and lived experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of clients do you work with?

We collaborate with municipalities, logistics providers, and urban innovation startups. Whether you need sustainable logistics systems or human-centred infrastructure design, our work adapts to both public and private sectors.

Can you adapt existing designs instead of starting from scratch?

Yes. We often refine or retrofit tools to improve ergonomics, function, or environmental impact — especially for worker‑centric tools already in service but not optimally designed.

What is your design philosophy?

We follow a "use-first" mindset. Every industrial design decision we make starts with direct observation and ends in a real-world scenario. We value longevity, repairability, and practical efficiency.

How do you ensure sustainability in your work?

Our sustainable logistics approach includes material audits, modularity for repairs, local sourcing, and emission-aware transport models. We view ecological impact as a design responsibility.

Do you only work in London?

While we are based in the UK and specialise in London design standards, our projects extend across the UK and Europe. Urban workers in any city face similar challenges — and our micromobility solutions and city design work is adaptable.
